Products and services to end poverty have already been created. Yet we discovered a number of effective interventions with significant delivery gaps. Still, millions of people lack access to fundamental tools for overcoming poverty.

Can you create a brand-new company or non-profit organization that effectively combats poverty? Below, submit your concept for a brand-new business that addresses one of our distribution challenges. The most promising teams will receive up to $20,000 USD to start their own nonprofit anywhere there is extreme poverty.

Application Process

TIMELINE

Choose a challenge from the list above and be aware of the following deadlines:

On April 4, 2022, the Global Competition will begin.

Submission in Advance The deadline is May 15, 2022 at 12:00 a.m. PT (pacific time)

Submission Schedule The deadline is June 5, 2022, at 12:00 a.m. PT (pacific time)

Extension The deadline is June 26, 2022 at 12:00 a.m. PT (pacific time). Apply for an extension.

EVALUATION PROCESS

Round 1 of the EVALUATION PROCESS

Please submit your concept note as well as your resume (s). Each competition typically receives 1700 submissions.

Round 2

The top 5% of entrepreneurs are invited to respond to brief written questions. You will have two weeks to write and submit your proposal.

Round of 16

Top entrepreneurs conduct interviews over the phone and via email. The top 1% will receive up to $20,000 in startup funding.

Launch

You will spend the next three months putting your skills to use to launch a venture that has the potential to grow and benefit millions of people.

ELIGIBILITY

The D-Prize is open to aspiring entrepreneurs from all over the world, of any age or background. The vast majority of our awardees have not launched their projects or raised any funding.

We will consider funding existing organizations only if you are distributing an existing intervention and have a high-risk capital requirement that cannot be met by your current donors or revenue.

Existing organizations applying for the D-Prize must have been in operation for no more than 18 months and have raised no more than $30,000 in outside funding.

We apologize, but we can only evaluate applications submitted in English at this time. However, you do not need to be fluent in English to apply, and grammar and vocabulary errors will not be penalized. We simply want to comprehend your concept.
